| FAQ |
|
| Q. What do I need to do to order my frames? |
|
| Firstly you will need to visit your local optometrist and make an appointment to have your eyes
tested, then ask the Optometrist to give you a copy of the prescription with your 'PD' (pupillary distance)
on it. On the other hand, if you have had a review within the last 2 years, you can also use this script so
long as it is no older than 2 years old, and has your PD written on the script. From then on, you will just
need to follow the prompts. |
| Secondly, you will need to find a frame that best suits your needs, likes and style, from our extensive
range of frames. |
| Thirdly, input your order that is written or printed on your prescriptions, including the PD into the provided
sections. Also complete your personal details section. |
| Fourthly, Once we have received your order we will professionally fit them. Prior to dispatching your
glasses they will be quality inspected and packaged appropriately, then we will have them delivered to
your door via the Australian Post If you have any problems please do not hesitate to email us or phone us on 0432604264. |
| Q. What if the Optometrist won't give me the script? |
|
| The Optometrist is legally bound to give you your script if you ask for it. The copy must be legible and
current. You have the right to take your script to whom ever you would like your glasses to be made from.
Please do not feel pressured into purchasing your glasses from the optometrist testing your eyes. |
| Q. What is ‘PD’? |
|
| The PD is the 'pupillary distance' or the distance between your pupils. This will assist us in ensuring that
your glasses will be customized to you and maximum effectiveness is achieved. |
| Q. Why are the glasses so cheap? |
|
| This is achieved by not having a shop front, and by dealing with you online. Not having a shop and buying
frames in bulk reduces any real overheads, therefore passing on the savings to you so that we can provide
a product that is reasonable and affordable to everyone, depending on their budgets. |
| Q. Why are there red numbers in the prescription sections? |
|
| The larger the numbers in the prescriptions ,the thicker and heavier the lens will be. Although, the lenses
are available throughout the red range in standard index, the red range indicates a higher index lens would
be best used for maximum cosmetic appeal ( thinner and lighter), the choice is yours. |
| Q. How long will it take to get my glasses? |
|
| This will depend on when we receive your order, and the complexity of your order. Under normal
circumstances it could take approximately a week, however to ensure that there are no problems, it is
advisable that you expect 2 weeks. Your glasses will be sent to you via Australian post, after it has been
carefully inspected and packaged. |
| Q. Are the lenses glass or plastic? |
|
| Glass lenses are not usually used in today's market, due to the fact that they are around twice as heavy
and need to be chemically or heat treated to obtain same level of impact resistance. Lenses today are
normally made of plastic. We use CR39 and a series of high index plastic materials, which are light
weight, aesthetically more pleasing and stylish than the glass lenses of the past. |
| Q. Am I able to have a pair of glasses on appro or trial? |
|
| Unfortunately no, we do not offer this service. |
| Q. Are prescription sunglasses available? |
|
| Yes they are available. There are a number of sunglass options available, either a solid or graduated tint
with 100% UV block out , transitions, which are light sensitive lenses, that darken to approximately 50%
when you go outside, and the polarised option that blocks reflected light from snow, sand, water and any
reflective surface. The choice is your. |
| Q. Are the lenses I receive coated? |
|
| The glasses you receive will come with a scratch resistant coating on them. Also available at an additional
cost is an anti-reflective coating, which cuts out annoying reflections such as, ghosting images which
occurs because of multiple reflections on both surfaces, and it also assist in night driving. |
| Having trouble interpreting my prescription |
|
| If you are unable to read the prescription, you are within your rights to ask your optometrist to clarify or
provide you with a more legible prescription. |
| My prescription doesn't have a number for each section in the order form |
|
Your prescription will always have a number or the word 'Plano' in the 'SPH' (sphere) section, and often,
but not always, a number in the 'Cyl' (cylinder) section. If there is a number in the 'Cyl' section there
will always need to be a number in the 'Axis' section after that 'Cyl'. In the case of reading, bifocal and
multifocal glasses, a reading 'ADD' is required. In some instances, not always, a number and a direction
(up, down, in or out) for 'PRISM' is required. If you have any doubts as to what to put down, please contact
us and we will go through it with you. |
| Q. I have entered my details incorrectly, what will I do? |
|
| The moment you have noticed that you have put in the wrong details, you will need to contact us
immediately, so that the correct details can be rectified before the lens order is manufactured. The lens
can not be refunded or changed once it has begun to be manufactured. |
| Q. What if I have a contact lens prescription, can I use it? |
|
| The contact lens prescription is similar to a glasses prescription, however, it is highly recommended that
you make an appointment with your optometrist and have your eyes tested and your 'PD' measured. |
| Q. What do the frame measurements mean, and where will I find them? |
|
Finding the frame measurements is pretty easy, they are usually on the inside of the frame arm or they
may be on the nose bridge. If you have a pair of glasses already, you will easily be able to find these, unless
they have worn off, as can happen if the glasses are quite old. There are usually 3 values of numbers and
separating each value are 2 symbols such as and - ( eg 49-18 - 140) each value is depicted in
millimetres (mm).
The first measurement ‘49’ represents the frames eye size. The next measurement ‘18’ is the width
measurement across the nose bridge, where the bridge meets the frame edges. The final measurement
of ‘140’ is the arm length of the frame. The arm length and bridge width will determine the fit and comfort of the frames. The frame width is down to individual preference. As a general rule of thumb, people with narrow faces suit narrow frames. These 3 measurements do not need to match exactly, but if they are close to your current glasses, they will have a similar fit. Most frames will fit well. Minor adjustments such as moving the nose pads or gently bending the ear pieces are simple to do. If you need help most optical shops will do this for you for free or may charge you a small fee. |

| Q. What if my glasses do not sit right on my face? |
|
| If you have any difficulties with your glasses not fitting on your face, you could visit your nearest
optometrist or optician to have them adjusted for free or a small fee. |
| Q. What is the guarantee on the frames etc? |
|
| The guarantee covers any fault to the frame or lenses for a period of one year from the date of dispatch
of the goods, or the lenses not being manufactured to the prescription given to us at the time of order. The
guarantee does not cover any damage, mishandling or breakage caused by yourself or any other persons.
It will also not include you not liking the style or the fit of the glasses after you have received them. |
| Q. Can I get a refund? |
|
You have 30 days in which to notify us of any problems with your glasses. If there is a problem with your
glasses on receipt of the goods, we will be able to get you another pair of glasses. You will need to send the
glasses back to us so that they may be inspected including the cloth and glasses case. If it is shown that there
has been obvious damage caused due to lack of care of your glasses the guarantee will be void. We will
notify you of the outcome on receipt of your goods, as to whether or not your claim will be successful. It is
our intent to be fair and reasonable if such an issue arrises. |
| Q. What if they are damaged? |
|
| Your glasses will be thoroughly inspected before being packaged to ensure no defects, however in the
unlikely event that the glasses are delivered to your door damaged, please send back the complete package
and we will rectify the problem. |
| Q. Are my payment details kept secure? |
|
| Absolutely. All creditcard transactions are handled by PayPal, an independent third-party. As a result, we never receive or store your creditcard details. |
| Q. Can I make a claim with my Health Fund? |
|
Yes you can claim through your health fund, we will provide you with a receipt to take to your health fund for a refund, as you would for any other health fund claim.
However it is worth noting that for HBF members, as of June 1 2007, HBF has 'changed its business rules' and will not be accepting claims for any glasses that are purchased through the Internet. The reason for this is unclear, however it is quite clear that HBF claims for such items will not be paid. All other Health funds will allow glasses purchased online to be claimed. |
